In Redmond’s classic trying-too-hard style, the launch will come at an invitation-only event in San Francisco, according to PC Magazine . The invitation site for the event features some snazzy HTML5 coding action, including an animated word game.

The speculations about a Chrome-based Goolge tablet device kicked off after Glen Murphy, an engineer and designer in the Google Chrome team, posted some propositions pertaining to the functioning of a Chrome OS tablet – hypothetically dubbed the “gPad.” In about official comments about the possibility of a Chrome OS tablet, Google has said that the mock-ups posted recently are merely a possible tablet design that has been floated by the Chromium development effort, which is the open source project behind Chrome OS. A Google spokesman said in an email: “Google Chrome OS is still in development and we are constantly experimenting with various user interfaces to determine what designs would produce the best user experience. As we’ve said all along, the UI is still under development and will continue to evolve as we determine which designs work best for our users.” Meanwhile, noting that the public is eager to see what Chrome OS can do, Sundar Pichai, Google’s VP of product management, said that Chrome OS would likely appear on netbooks first in November or December this year
